Answers to the things people actually hit — and a human at the end of the line.

Frequently asked

My glasses aren’t detected

The app needs USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode — that’s the phone pushing a real second display down the wire, not casting.

  • Confirm the phone supports DP Alt Mode output (many budget phones omit it even with USB-C).
  • Use the cable that shipped with the glasses — passive USB-C data cables often lack the DP lanes.
  • Plug the glasses in before starting playback, and accept any Android display prompt.
  • No glasses or no DP Alt Mode? The app plays on the phone screen instead, so you can still test everything.
NDI sources stutter or don’t appear

NDI is real-time network video — it needs bandwidth and a clean local network.

  • Use gigabit Ethernet or solid 5 GHz Wi-Fi; congested 2.4 GHz will not carry it.
  • Sender and phone must be on the same subnet for discovery (the app runs SDK-native discovery plus mDNS).
  • If a source drops, the app auto-reconnects with backoff — give it a few seconds before switching.
  • 4K NDI is supported, but start at 1080p to validate the network first.
How do I get the app?

It’s in private beta — there’s no public download. Sign up for beta access and we’ll get accepted testers set up directly. Once you’re in, updates arrive in-app over the air, verified with SHA-256.

Is there an iOS version?

Android first — that’s where USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode second-display support lives today. iOS versions are in the works for after the beta.

How does the remote control work?

The app runs a small web server on the device. Open the admin panel, scan the QR code with any laptop or phone on the same LAN, and you get a browser remote — protected by an optional access token.

Can I brand it for my event or client?

Yes — app name, logo, colors and footer are all rebrandable per event from the password-locked admin panel. Export the finished setup as JSON and import it on every other device for identical multi-device rollouts.

Is my data collected?

No accounts, no analytics, no tracking. The app phones home for exactly one thing: checking dvkv.mr-tbot.com for updates. See the privacy note.
